Can't get into Chatroom

Each time I try the Java thing comes on but then I can't get into chat after that happens. Any thoughts?

Grab the latest version of Java; if you don't have it... Also your system my be low on resources. If that is the case, try closing other programs before loading chat.

Give it a chance to load, it can take a while depending on your system.

Adminstrators, this site sucks as far as getting on to the chat room. Before the Jave Virtual Machine became obsolute it was no problem at all but now it takes at least ten minutes of watching the Jave sumbol go round and round to get signed on at all. I think it is something you people should look into. It is very perplexing to set and wait on such stuff. It should be something that can be remedied in this world of electronic wizadry. This the only site that I have found with this problem so I know there is an answer.

The size of chat applet is approximately 140K. It takes no longer to download than a 140K file over the Internet. Which would take approximately 5 to 10 seconds on a cable connection.

Once you initially download the Chat applet client, it is cached in your browser for faster loading during a subsequent session.

Once downloaded, how fast chat loads all depends on the processing speed of your computer and the version of Java you are using.

I have a HIGH SPEED internet connection and believe me it takes more thna 5 or 10 sec to upload the apPlet. I can download a 140K picture from the intenet in approx 2 seconds (sometimes 3) BUT it take a good 40 to 50 sec to download the applet.

BTW, I van't get into tha chat room at all this evening.

Having a similar prob myself. Thought it was just me (which it still may be...) But I too am having nothing but problems with the whole site tonite - and can't get into the chat. Still love the site thou...

Here are the Java folders in my programs. I still get that i need to load Java Virtual Machine.

jre1.5.0_06
jre1.5.0_10
jre1.5.0_11

Any sugestions as to how to fix the problem.

btw, my OS is '98SE.

Working great now. I deleted my version of 5_11 and redid and now chat works great.
