Yes, socialized medicine is the way to go. Why than does the USA have the best healthcare in the world, if you can afford it. Why do people come from all over the world to get treated here? I was working in canada a few years ago. My bosses wife got sick, and he sent her to the mayo clinic. He said he could'nt wait. Simply put, if you have the money, america is the first choice for medicine. Is that right, no, but niether is socialist medicine. We need to find something inbetween. Yes, we all know europe is floating towards full socialism. Is that right? I hope so, for them and me. I work there a lot and hope to come back to live there eventually.

I suggest that you check up on the W.H.O. league tables for the provision of healthcare to get the real facts on healthcare, the USA lags behind the UK as well as some thirty other nations in healthcare provision despite spending more per head of population

And as for living under full socialism, you'll love it if your a fan of suffocation. The NHS is the only good thing to have come from the our brushes with socialism here in the UK,but you have to stack that up against the destruction of British industry at the hands of socialism/trade unionism, along with a multitude other annoyances, including their latest fetish for the gross surveillance of the private citizen.

I have heard that UK tradesmen take 2 hours for lunch a lot more often than they should, so the costs of building or renovating houses is very costly and done at a slowcoach pace.

Someone needs to crack the whip throughout England, factory workers are the only ones who know how to put in a decent day's effort. A honest day's work would get England out of debt in two years........but I can't see it happening any day soon.

Never believe all you hear and only half of what you see

I'ts a great system , but sadly abused

I hate the English because they have given the world pretty much nothing (apart from being the first nation in the world to abolish slavery) BUT they do work more hours than any nation in all of Europe.

What is all this political bull shit doing in the Dark Room??????

I cant believe some of the comments in here,,,,,,,,rich people are going to do well in any system, there are plus and minus in the both the U.S. and U.K. healthcare system as well as people who abuse them. A great system would give the best healthcare to everybody making them live as long and as independ as possible, in addition to providing access to as many as possible. As I have stated before, there is no way to do that without everyone deciding to we want to take care of each out, or we can decide that some people don't deserve healthcare as long as we(I) have it. Part of my gym membership cost covers the daycare cost offered by the gym to other members with kids,,,,,,,should I quit, because I don't have kids, or stay and know it ultimately benefits the kids in my community, town, state,etc...?,,,,if I rather less abortions in my community, town, state,etc....I should stay.

Hmm...I guess you prefer "Off Topic" to mean "On Topic?"

The English do more hours, but they are slackers - just watch Coronation Street and you can see all the reasons their mind is not on the job. If they pulled their fingers out, they could go home early. Better to work hard for 30 hours, than to slack for 45.

And you base this on watching a soap opera? That has to be one of the funniest things I've ever read because every Brit is like a Corrie actor. :D

I work in construction and i don't know of anybody in the industry that is self employed(and most are) that actually takes a formal lunchbreak,we all make do with grabbing a sandwich on the hoof.Once again Josetta exhibits her complete ignorance of life outside of her own nations borders, still that isn't something thats uncommon amongst Americans.Just out of curiosity, how long does a yank take to eat his lunch, bearing in mind that American meals are substantially larger than meals elsewhere in the world lol.

It is bad enough some of the others posting racial stereotyping nonsense just to get a reaction without you starting Josetta. You have done more harm to yourself than anyone else with this utter drivel.

Been away a while, good to see we still got the usual dumbasses here. The English are up there with the Greeks and the Romans in terms of human advancement. Go back to school, fool.

The percentage of overweight people in UK and Australia is now right up with Americans percentage wise. When fat was reduced in the diet, the average gycaemic index of the meal was increased, and this is the major reason people have gained weight all round the western world. Cut the g.i. of meals and weight falls.

A lot of tradesmen arrive in U.K. from other parts of the world, and they frequently comment on how little work UK builders get done each week. There seems to be a culture in London to spend very long lunch hours.

Yeah well we have to set a reasonable amount of time to one side in order to 'take care' of the clients wife lol
