State

Does anyone know what state has the most IR marrages?

I would think that California, Hawaii, Florida, Oregon and Texas are high in having Interracial Marriages. (Personal opinion...DON'T take it as fact.)

Downtown Brown may have a valid point, though. Cali is one freaky state...but valid proof is what would convince me. I WON'T DARE leave other states out of the question.

I'll reverse the question...to keep the topic on track a bit: What State has the fewest IR marriages? (IF you wish to show proof, feel free to post it here.)

I won't laugh, if you say Utah...that is ONE guess I have. lol

What an interesting question. Another way of measuring it would be to determine the percentage of all marriages within a state that are IR. From sheer numbers, I'd guess California too, but on a percentage basis, I would think states like Ohio, New Jersey, and Illinois might rank pretty high.

The Census Bureau could provide the answers from their racial counting database, but I've never seen any official statistics from them on this issue.

Anybody have access to their records ??

If google doesn't have it...

Pardon my acting like a 'Broken record' Neat 'n Petite...but have you tried a search on google?

If that doesn't work...try to contact the state/federal census bureau directly. Regarding this issue...I'd pose as a student doing a research paper. Since I'm working on getting back into school, this usually works.

Be mindful of any questions they may ask...for example, if you were a member of the health department...or a lawyer. (Don't laugh...I became accused of being a nosy lawyer, and had to personally go to the local courthouse to get the info.)
