As I have this posted in another thread I thought I would start a new thread with this and like your comments. This isn't a slam toward Pimp or Pooch but I think that the admin ought to leave it to us as the people to have any Mod reinstated on a poll for or against. The reason being is we are the ones that sees what is going on with many eyes so I think we as the people here on this site should decide by a poll for or against having that person reinstated Pimp Pooch or who ever I see it as the fair way and Will, Dig or Buzzy doesn't have to make the choice by themselves. My thought what is yours Thank You

Come on people 13 veiws and not one comment. No one is gonna ride your ass if you speak so what is your idea on this.

Couldn't care less who is a mod and who isn't, so long as they don't go around deleting posts cos they have a gripe against a particular member.

My only issue with Admin and Mods on any site is that they shouldn't participate in any threads and should sort any issues out in private.

Because it compromises them. I don't need to point out the threads where mods and ex-mods have been warring with one another far more than any regular members have been. And it doesn't just happen on this site.

It's just my personal opinion. I wouldn't be a mod or an admin on a site again - it's too much hassle!

That's all I have to say on this one.

Good luck people, and enjoy the festivities!

What self-respecting moderator, no matter his indignation over a thread, would delete it? I absolutely loathed the basement section but I never once deleted a thread there.

To your original point, mule, selecting a mod shouldn't be done based on popularity. A good mod, should be a person that has the time to do the job, a high tolerance level, and the ability to manage discourse without escalating it.
A popularity poll certainly won't be based on that criteria.

Well said Ro. Nor should a potential candidate's unpopularity work against them as long as they've shown an ability to do the job and meet the criteria you stated.

i have been removed as a mod by the admin whoever he/she is, I guess cause he/she didnt like my negative opinions or supposed show of apathy to the whole thing...and that is fine by me...i never deleted, edited anything or anyone, other than some dude trying to sell viagara..and I think Will beat me to that one. i dont see much on here that is illegal (there may be some copyright fraud going on by pics/stories being shown here..but I dont know enough about that) my opinions have all been noted, so I agree that this place should and will continue to run as it does by the users. I requested the admin set some definitive rules/regulations/standards..for it seems that the consensus wants that, but we shall see what happens. another thing that may/may not be important is the mods do not know what the others do or are doing.

Maybe administration, when they have the time, can create a textual set of guidelines and rules as well instruction manual for the mods.

Oh Pooch, don't even get me started on copyright issues, lol!
Almost every pic I see posted is copyrighted. People have a real misunderstanding of copyright.
Probably deserves it's own thread, lol. As someone who's copyright have been violated many many times I can tell you it's a sore point, lol. And I can go on and on about it. But I'll spare you guys :)

also the chatroom needs to be moderated BIG TIME...other chatrooms i have visited are moderated. if you think the forums are crazy, the chatroom is the biggest Freakshow.

I could so be associated with worse people :D So much better to be on your good side lol

I know I've said it already but I truly am sorry I allowed us to get off on the ugly foot that we did (what can I say I have moments of assholitis). ;)

Amen.

So back to the issue - Muleman as a moderator; gets my vote. Moderators moderating rather than discussing moderating moderators; gets my vote. Getting rid of the tiresome freakshow in favour of content; gets my vote.

This thread (to-date) is an excellent example...

... of thoughtful discourse without name-calling. This thread should be included if a moderators handbook is ever created. Thank you Will&Eve, Ro, Pimp, Mule, Pooch, 50Cpl, NewCpl..,and everyone else that works hard around here to keep all of our heads above water and muck.

Am I the only one who thinks this is scarey ?

Mods don't even know who Admin is ?

WTF ?

to be honest i had no idea who the owners/administrators were. now i heard of dig for i saw his post earlier today, here...and only have now heard the name buzzy. neither introduced themselves to me when they asked me to be a mod, nor gave me any instruction...i simply received an email one day asking if i would do it from the 'administrator." how else do people know who they are? is it posted somewhere on the site?

There is a real danger that, with Will & Eve in charge, this might actually become a professional site. and I really don't know if that would be a good thing or not...

It's a screwy world

Seems to me the Moderator has a tough job indeed. Ro stated some things that are "no-brainers" and should be considered when selecting any (referee) or Moderator, whether it be in a chatroom or in sports activities. A Mod is a referee and needs the ability to do the right thing even when it is NOT popular.
