While reading a newspaper recently I don't normally follow (my wife and I were out of town, traveling), I noted a woman had written to an advice columnist saying her libido was off the charts, particularly since she had turned 40. She went on to say she had seen her doctor, who diagnosed her as having "persistent sexual arousal syndrome" (PSAS).
I have always known that individuals vary widely in sexual inclination and responsiveness (i.e., in libido) — I mean, that's obvious — but this was something I had not heard of. So, of course, I googled it. This brought up a fairly large number of sites dealing with PSAS. See, for example:
Femalepatient.com
It appears to have been recognized relatively recently as an actual medical syndrome. It is thought to be "unusual" (whatever that means), but it's also suspected that the number of women who have it may be substantially larger than the number who see doctors about it, because of the usual reasons for reticence about admitting to "sexual problems."
I — and perhaps others — would be interested in hearing from male members of this forum who are married to women who appear to have, or have been diagnosed with, PSAS — and/or from female members who suspect they may have, or have been diagnosed with, PSAS.
Perhaps the responses (if any) may shed some light on the characteristics of women who are likely to seek sexual satisfaction outside their marriages, given that some adapt readily to the concept of cuckolding their husbands (if their husbands encourage them to do so), while some become cuckoldresses without their husbands' knowledge (and continue even if their husband's don't like it and don't want to be cuckolds), and others are resistant to the concept and will not consider cuckolding their husbands under any circumstance.
