Recently, a Bronx all-girl high school, Jane Addams, has been in the news for alleged financial chicanery.

Now it is in the news for a different reason. The school principal, Sharron Smalls, posted a photo of herself on facebook in which she was dressed in skimpy clothes and having hot chocolate poured over her body by a half-naked man.

Students at the school protested, "If she can go around looking like a slut, why can't we?"

Good question, girls! Personally, I congratulate Ms. Smalls on showing the younger girls how things should be done, and let us hope that they all "turn tramp" as soon as they're legal.

Long ago, in small town places far away, churches, civic groups, etc. would hold home made ice cream "socials" to raise money. Folks would pay for the ice cream (usually had home made pies as well) and sit around socialising.

Probably don't hold them anymore for fear of being labled communist gatherings by ham faced Karl Rove, drug addict Rush, Nutso Beck, just shut up, sexual harasser Bill O'Reilly, please let me suck on your tits Sarah Palin, Sean Hannitty.

To name a few. Got a bit off message there didn't I?

At least we don't have an old fashioned "tar and feathering" or mandatory castration of choir boys with soprana voices before puberty strikes. The world is going PC mad, and has a shallow understanding of far worse things that happened in history.

I dont think thats the case at all. The youth dont know about such attrosities because some consider these kind of things politically incorrect. So they are glazed over, if mentioned at all. Now the kids dont even know these things really ever happened. It's a shame too, because as we all know, those who dont learn and understand the history of the past are doomed to repeat it. It's not just the kids though. There is a whole gereration of adults that are totally removed from the times that you mention and most of them have no idea about our nations, and its inhabitants struggles and those kind of darker days. Again, nobody ever told them. So its hard to place a blame on anyone in particular because its a systemic failure that is leading to the problem of a shallow understanding, as you so correctly described it.
