There are at least two possible reasons — or at least, relevant factors — I haven't seen in the replies to your post, although admittedly I scanned your thread only briefly.
1) In India, the ancient custom of male babies being viewed as somehow more valuable than female babies is resulting in substantially more abortions of female babies than male babies, since it is now possible for parents to determine the sex of their baby-to-be (or not) prior to birth. The result is that women are now significantly less than 50% of the population in India.
Ergo, the husband of an Indian woman who insists it is her right and prerogative to date and fuck whomever she wishes has few or no options other than agreeing that is, indeed, her right and prerogative — because if he objects and she leaves him, his probability of being able to find a desirable alternative partner is much lower than hers. In other words, being in the minority numerically is translating directly into increased sexual power for Indian women.
2) Indian women (in India) are also taking advantage of their superior academic and some other abilities vis-a-vis Indian men by pursuing their educations and other career opportunities independent of the religious-based desires of their families and many men. One has the impression that this, and women being numerically in the minority, may underlie the outrageous rapes of Indian women in public, in one case resulting in a woman's death, that have been in the news recently. Now, finally, there are large public demonstrations against the failure of the Indian government to prosecute rapists.
This, in turn, may also be contributing to what might be called a stealth backlash among Indian women. That is, increasingly they are refusing to accept the religious-based "wife as property of her husband" ethic and are humiliating their husbands, while asserting their sexual liberation, by claiming their right and prerogative to date and fuck whomever they wish.
